ARAKSYA GHAZARYAN was born in Armenia and lives and works in Yerevan. Upon graduation she was proposed to teach at the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts, where she taught until now. Her work has been the subject of solo and group exhibitions in Armenia, Belgium, Italy, Monaco, Ireland, Tehran, USA and Singapore.
In her art, Araksya combines elements of abstraction, expressionism, and cave painting. She became known for her richly colored, multi-layered paintings employing a range of techniques. Often juxtaposing figurative and abstract forms, the artist persistently examines the nature, boundaries, and tensions of the painted surface in relation to the very first art created on the earth.
